A Monday Thought . . .
While driving this afternoon I passed a building with a small marquis sign in front with the following message posted “Love More; Regret Less!” For some reason this struck me as sound counsel but after thinking about it for a spell it started driving me a little nuts considering the duality of this thought. Is it saying we need to love more and not dwell on our regrets (if any) or does it mean the less regrets we have the more capacity we have to love? Dunno . . .
There seems to be fallacy in this line of reasoning which I can’t put my finger on. Perhaps I’m just missing the boat entirely which I often do at times. This will require some further consideration and a possible topic for a post at my main haunt. Then again, maybe not.
As I close out this shorty I was reminded while talking to a friend today which I haven’t spoken to in a month of Sundays, about the difference between being tough and being hardened. It’s OK to be tough but hardened ain’t so good. Maybe this will be included with the above post since there are some parallels to the marquis message as far as my line of thinking is concerned.
Walk safely this week and enjoy your time because we only have one go around!

Gail, wish I could say there are angels. Perhaps there are after all. Thanks.

Here is my little 2 cents on this. Perhaps it could mean that if we do, in fact, heed the command to love more, then we are concentrating our energy on being openly loving to others all around(outward focus), therefore limiting the energy available to worry and dwell on regrets we may have about our own lives(inward focus).
On tough vs. hardened:
tough: strong and durable; capable of great endurance
hardened: pitiless, unfeeling; firmly establish and unlikely to change.
I’ll take tough any day! But the danger of being tough is that over time, it can cause one to become hardened.
Jazmine say: Be tough like bamboo but flexible enough to bow to the wind.

Jazmine, this was a nice insightful offering you made on this Valentine’s Day. I liked what you had to say about ‘tough’ and I think it’s worth considerably more than 2 cents worth! Thanks.

Jazmine, your closing comment reminded me of something I read in a Zen reading years ago. Though bamboo is strong and flexible, it remains the only tree, or in this case, a perennial evergreen, that is hollow inside. A good quote. For sure!

let us hope we are not hollow inside!
